Residence Life Coordinator

Allegheny College, a selective national liberal arts college, invites applications for the position of Residence Life Coordinator. The position is a full-time exempt position reporting to the Assistant Dean for Residence Life. The Office of Residence Life is responsible for general operations and administration of housing, residential education, and living and learning programs.

The Residence Life Coordinator will have primary responsibility to work with the Residence Life professional and student staff to create a safe and positive residential community.  This includes residential education and programming, student-staff supervision and mentoring, crisis management, participating in the on-call rotation and availability after hours and weekends, community development, managing student conduct, staff selection, leadership development, facility coordination, committee assignments, and developing liaisons with other college offices, student groups and families. This is a live-in position. The Residence Life Coordinators are the primary professional staff member available on campus for on-call emergencies.  It is expected that the Residence Life Coordinator live in the assigned apartment and respond to student needs that arise.

Candidates will preferably have a Master’s Degree (Bachelors required) in student affairs, higher education administration, counseling or a related field. Professional, live-in experience is preferred. Experience with crisis response is also desired. The candidate must also have strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Experience and demonstrated interest in helping to create a residential curriculum required.
