Senior Director of Advancement Operations

Allegheny College, a selective national liberal arts college, invites applications for the position of Senior Director of Advancement Operations.  This is a full-time exempt position. Reporting to the Vice President for Development and Alumni Affairs, the Senior Director of Advancement Operations is a vital member of the Development leadership team and provides critical support in a fast-paced, lively, and collegial atmosphere. The incumbent must be an effective and agile multi-tasker with an ability to appropriately handle sensitive and confidential information, prioritize competing assignments and deadlines, while producing highly accurate work. The capacity for clear, thoughtful communication, strong analytical skills, and attention to detail are critical. The position requires the ability to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations, as well as the ability to work with a positive attitude, grace under pressure, and tight deadlines.

The Senior Director of Advancement Operations is responsible for the alignment and implementation of support functions and infrastructure that supports Development in achieving its annual fundraising goals and constituent engagement. The Senior Director of Advancement Operations supervises the functions and team members in Advancement Operations, which includes technology and information operations, database management, technology support, gift processing and records, biographical records, and prospect management and research.

The Senior Director of Advancement Operations serves to build, sustain, encourage, and support productive relationships with and among colleagues in Development and elsewhere at the College. The successful candidate must be prepared to work in a highly accountable, highly empowered role and be willing to expect the same from all members of Advancement Operations.  The Senior Director of Advancement Operations will need to be a change catalyst while creating a culture of ongoing technological improvements and implementing a model of self-service throughout Development. It is anticipated that the Senior Director of Advancement Operations will be implementing a complete overhaul of technology platforms within the first year of service.
