We are excited to announce updates to the College holiday schedule and the offering of several new work arrangement options to provide employees with increased flexibility with their work schedule while allowing Allegheny to maintain a progressive and productive work environment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2022 Holiday Schedule<\/strong><br \/>\nIn addition to the five existing holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and the day after Thanksgiving), the College is\u00a0<strong>adding 2 \u00bd holidays<\/strong>\u00a0to this year\u2019s schedule.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Monday, 6\/20 \u2014 Juneteenth National Independence Day Observed<\/li>\n<li>Wednesday, 11\/23 \u2014 Day Before Thanksgiving (College previously closed at noon)<\/li>\n<li>Monday, 1\/16 \u2014 Martin Luther King Jr. Day<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Winter break will be Monday, 12\/26 \u2013 Monday, 1\/2.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Summer 2022<\/strong><br \/>\nSummer brings the return of\u00a0<strong>summer hours<\/strong>\u00a0for the months of June and July. Standard summer business hours are 8 a.m. \u2013 4 p.m., with a one-half-hour lunch. New for this summer is the addition of the option of\u00a0<strong>one remote work day per week<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Department managers are responsible for ensuring that offices are open and staffed in-person during all normal business hours. Therefore, employees are required to obtain manager approval for their remote work day and maintain the same schedule each week.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Academic Year 2022\u20132023<\/strong><br \/>\nThe College is excited to introduce a pilot program of\u00a0<strong>work week options,<\/strong>\u00a0beginning on August 1.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Option 1:\u00a0 Standard work week of five 8-hour days<\/li>\n<li>Option 2: \u00a0Compressed work week of four 9-hour days and one 4-hour day<\/li>\n<li>Option 3:\u00a0 Compressed work week of four 10-hour days<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The additional option of\u00a0<strong>one remote work day per week<\/strong>\u00a0will still be available for employees.<\/p>\n<p>Again, employees are required to obtain manager approval for their work schedule and maintain the same schedule each week so that departments and offices are open and staffed in person during normal business hours.<\/p>\n<p>By offering alternative work scheduling, we will support employees in accomplishing work and personal goals while providing appropriate coverage for individual department operations. We recognize that some options may not be available for all employees.
