Berges \u201963 in memory of her parents, the Reverend and Mrs. Carl Edward Berges. The income from this fund is awarded biannually to international students to help defray educational expenses.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Allegheny degree-seeking international students of higher academic achievement (GPA of 3.3 or above) who demonstrate financial need are eligible, provided they have never previously received this award. Please note the following students are currently not eligible to apply: first year students who currently have no Allegheny GPA (you may apply in future semesters), students who have received the Berges fund in the past (including for study away), non-degree students.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0Scholarships are awarded once per semester and the application can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/GRtjzVv9zPXPyfTr9\">here.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<h4>Gator Success Grants<\/h4>\n<p>The Success Grant program is designed to provide students with additional financial assistance to offset the total cost of college attendance and to encourage successful on-time degree completion. C2C helps new international students with the transition to life at Allegheny College and in the US.\u00a0 Mentors offer opportunities for social interaction, assist students with understanding academic expectations, and help new students get acclimated to life in the U.S. and Meadville.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As part of the program, mentors and mentees enroll in a 1 credit course in the fall semester. The course provides program participants the opportunity to engage weekly both in and outside of the classroom. The course emphasizes the practice of cross cultural understanding and communication while preparing students for engagement in a global society.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>How do I become a mentor?<\/b><b><br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">C2C mentors are carefully selected Allegheny students who have been trained to help new international students with the transition to life on campus. Insurance must include:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Medical benefits of at least $100,000 per accident or illness<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Repatriation of remains in the amount of $25,000<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Expenses associated with the medical evacuation of the exchange visitor to his or her home country in the amount of $50,000<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A deductible not to exceed $500 per accident or illness.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An insurance policy must be underwritten by an insurance corporation with an A.M. Best rating of &#8220;A-&#8221; or above, an Insurance Solvency International, Ltd. (ISI) rating of &#8220;A-I&#8221; or above, a Standard and Poor&#8217;s Claims Paying Ability rating of &#8220;A-&#8221; or above, or a Weiss Research, Inc. rating of B+ or above.
