International Education Week 2020
November 16-20, 2020
International Education Week is a joint initiative between the U.S. Department of State & the U.S. Department of Education to promote and celebrate international education and exchange.
This year for International Education Week, we featured online webinars throughout the week and announced The Allegheny Gateway’s International Education 2020 Photo Contest.
International Education in The Allegheny Gateway would like to thank everyone who participated in this year’s photo contest. We had a total of 34 entries, with such varied topics from skyline to mountain range to food plate to people. These entries are gorgeous! There were a total of 98 voters! Coming in first place with a total of 25 votes is the New Zealand māori tribe ceremony photo by Maya King, class of 2024. Coming in second place with 23 votes is the windmill of Utrecht, Netherlands, by Lindsey Klingberg, class of 2024. And lastly but certainly not least, in third place with 20 votes is a photo taken on Waterfront in Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas, in the U.S. Virgin Islands, by Karen Gauriloff, class of 2022. Winners received a certificate and their winning photo on a canvas. Congratulations to the winners, and thanks again from the International Education office to all who entered! Showcased below are the winning photos, and their creaters posed with Allegheny Gateway Office Manager Jennifer Kessner.

The annual International Bazaar is usually the culmination of International Education Week. Students from around the world would cook traditional dishes to share with the community. We unfortunately canceled the event this year, but we hope to rejoin to cook next year!
