Flipped Classrooms without Problem Sets

Are you interested in flipping a class but don’t know how to start?  Lee Coates will discuss his recent experience of flipping his Animal Physiology (Bio 380) course without using problem sets.  He’ll discuss the format for the flipped class, technology for pre-class assignments and videos, in-class activities, and assessment data comparing student learning before and after flipping the class.

Wufoo Transition to Google Forms

With the maturity of the Google Forms platform to develop and design web forms, we are retiring Wufoo as an active tool for general campus use by May 1, 2018.

Forms that are embedded within critical website or marketing, as well as forms used for payment processing will continue to exist in Wufoo. In addition, Wufoo forms centrally managed by College Relations or ITS may continue to exist where it makes the most sense to continue existing practice.

Google’s form tool improves on Wufoo with the following features:
– Easier to share and securely manage results directly in a live spreadsheet.
– Better mobile user experience
– More robust file storage for collecting attached files
– Unlimited notifications for new entries
– Simpler transition of form ownership to others on campus

Most users have already been contacted and have either migrated already or are working with ITS to complete their migration. For forms that continue to exist on Wufoo, LITS recommends against long term storage of data and file uploads on the Wufoo site. Using Google Forms – First Fun Friday 3/2

LITS will be hosting the next in the monthly series of “First Fun Fridays” on 3/2 at 2pm in Murray Hall 117. The topic will be Using Google Forms. Attendance is open, however a response indicating you plan to attend (to Jason Ramsey) is much appreciated so we can get a rough sense of the audience. First Fun Fridays topics are geared towards administration and staff, however faculty are most welcome as well!

As always, LITS hosts the regular weekly Fun Friday at 3 in Murray 117. Feel free to bring questions or projects to Enterprise Services for us to work and solve problems together. No question too great or too small!

Google Drive Alerts

It has come to our attention that the antiquated Google Drive sync app has begun to prompt users with the following alert:

This alert is legitimate; however, you do not need to install File Stream, it is already installed on all college owned Windows PCs. Mac users can follow through with the installation via this prompt.

Access to Enterprise Systems Restored

System and Network administrators restored access to enterprise systems at approximately 11:55am on February 8, 2018.

If you experience an inability to connect to services like WebAdvisor, WebHelpDesk, Colleague, Informer or other online services, please report to the InfoDesk by calling ext 3768.

Disruption Accessing Enterprise Systems Reported

The InfoDesk received reports from individuals in the community about the inability to access several of the enterprise systems including Colleague, WebAdvisor, PaperCut, and Informer.

System administrators are addressing the issue.

Print Server Issue Addressed

On Monday, February 5th, the InfoDesk received reports from individuals of their inability to print.  On investigation the system administrator needed to restart the server and perform unscheduled maintenance.

The System administrator worked on the issue starting at 2:45pm and full functionality was restored by 3:00pm.
