The Meadville Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA) is a free tax preparation service available for Meadville/Crawford County residents. VITA is now recruiting students and staff for the four-credit Tax Internship course. Volunteers will be trained in January and will assist residents with income-tax preparation from February through April 2017. VITA enhances valuable skills for students, looks great on a resume, and facilitates engagement in our community. The Meadville VITA program assisted more than 1,000 local taxpayers in 2016. We invite you to become a tax preparer for the upcoming semester. If you are interested in taking this course but have questions, please email smartin@allegheny.edu. To take the course, use a signature card to sign up for ECON 501 or INTDS 590 with Professor Sickafuse. Meadville VITA is a collaborative program sponsored by the Meadville Public Library, Allegheny College, and the IRS.
