Community & Justice Studies is offering a one-time-only special topic course, COMJ 591, for Fall 2017. The two-credit course will be held on Wednesdays from 12:15 to 1:20 p.m. and is titled “Courageous Conversations of Race: A Study of What Makes Talking About Race Difficult.” Discussions will draw on Derald Sue’s book “Race Talk and the Conspiracy of Silence: Understanding and Facilitating Difficult Dialogues on Race.” A group of students and employees will explore this topic over lunch, focusing on what can be done to facilitate race talk at Allegheny. The course will be facilitated by Professor Emeritus Bill Bywater and Professor Eleanor Weisman. Contact eweisman@allegheny.edu for more information or register for this course by May 5.
