On Thursday, April 19, the Global Citizen Scholars Program will host a panel discussion, “Refugees in American Education.” It will focus on access, inclusion, and academic and cultural learning for refugee youth in the public schools, most especially the public schools in Erie. Current opportunities and obstacles will be discussed by the panelists: Ferki Ferati, EdD, President of the Jefferson Educational Society; Lori Sheridan, educator in Erie public schools, English as a Second-Language Instructor; Nandu Subedi, Resettlement Program Leader at Catholic Charities in Erie; Benedicte Musimisa, Allegheny College student, class of ’21.
