Visit China on an EL term in May of 2019! Political Science Professors Shanna Kirschner and Sharon Wesoky will be holding an information session for “21st Century China: Dreams and Realities” on Wednesday, May 2, at 4 p.m. in Quigley 122.

From May 14 to June 3, 2019, visit China to explore the relationship between China’s state and society under the “Chinese Dream” of Xi Jinping. Through visits to sites such as environmental and women’s organizations, country villages, tourist locations like the Great Wall and Forbidden City, and Buddhist monasteries and pilgrimage mountains, we will examine the political, social, and spiritual challenges and opportunities of life in a rapidly changing country. We will also consider the many narratives of what it means to be Chinese today, and the ways that citizens continue to shape China’s identity and future. Our itinerary will include Beijing, Chengdu, and Shanghai. This will be a 4 credit course–no prerequisites.
For more information, join us on Wednesday, or please contact Professor Wesoky (swesoky@allegheny.edu) or Professor Kirschner (sckirscn@allegheny.edu)!
