Come learn about the May 2019 China Experiential Learning term, “21st Century China: Dreams and Realities,” at an information session on Friday, October 12, at 3 pm in Quigley 122. Co-led by Professors Shanna Kirschner and Sharon Wesoky (Political Science), this four-credit course will visit Beijing, Chengdu, and Shanghai to see the ways that China is rapidly modernizing while also remaining uniquely “Chinese.” Some of the issues we will discuss are urbanization, environmental challenges, women’s and other group rights, and the idea of the Chinese Dream. Sites to be visited will include the Forbidden City, the Great Wall, a panda reserve, and traditional Beijing and Shanghai neighborhoods.
