Mark Cosdon will speak on “Skin in the Game: Hamilton, The Money Trail, and the Contemporary Broadway Musical” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 10, in Campus Center 301/302. Broadway producing is a high stakes financial gamble where over 75 percent of musicals never return a profit to investors. The financial risks confronting a producer are significant, particularly when a show must run for well over a year before a new work returns a profit. Using Hamilton as a model, this lecture demonstrates the money trail behind a Broadway ticket and seeks to answer the question, “Where does all that money go?”
