Interested in learning about the Arc of Crawford County’s plan for a green space in downtown Meadville? If so, please join us on Thursday, April 25, at 5 p.m. at the Arc – 222 Chestnut St., Meadville. Throughout the semester, Allegheny College students Rene Benoit ’20, Anna Calari ’19, Hunter McNutt ’21, Anna Campbell Sowden ’20, Brady Spaulding ’20, and Xuyang Zhang ’22 have been meeting with key stakeholders, researching best practices for placemaking, stream daylighting and stormwater innovations, and creating preliminary design concepts. The site, which is intended to provide a community venue where individuals from the Arc, and others from the wider community, can gather and form natural relationships through collaborative participation in arts, culture, and community events, will likely include gardens (edible and stormwater), raise awareness of Mill Run and the historical Mill Run Canal, and will also feature a series of murals on adjacent buildings. Additionally, the site will likely include a performance stage for music, poetry, performances and outdoor movies. Please join us, learn what we’ve been up to and what our next steps will be, and share your ideas.
