RSVPs are due Thursday, July 25, for this special event. We are very pleased to invite all staff and administrators to a special professional development event with Amma Marfo, an experienced higher education practitioner, on Thursday, August 1. This event is sponsored by the Administrative Advisory Committee, Service Excellence Committee, and Staff Advisory Committee. In her talk, Amma will: Share the benefits of effective collaboration, detail the traits we should try to cultivate in ourselves and our teams to work toward this goal, identify what the potential pitfalls to such a strategy could look like—and how to sidestep them in pursuit of good work. By the end of this session, participants will have an idea of where their challenges might lie and will be given the tools to address those challenges in a manner befitting their goals, resources, and circumstances.

To best accommodate everyone’s schedules, including office coverage, two identical sessions will be held in Schultz Banquet Hall on Thursday, August 1: 10:30 a.m. to noon and 1:30 to 3 p.m. Lunch will be provided from noon to 1:15 p.m. (between the sessions).

RSVP here by Thursday, July 25.

If you’re not sure whether you can leave work for a session, please check with your supervisor. Non-exempt employees who choose to attend a session should record the meeting time as work time on their time card.

We hope that you are able to participate in this professional development opportunity and that you will benefit from the insights that are shared. If you have any questions about this event, please contact AAC Chair Sueann Kaster Mercier (skaster@allegheny.edu) or SAC Chair Tammy Steinfath (tsteinfath@allegheny.edu).
