The International Education Office in the Allegheny Gateway invites you to experience the City of Asylum’s free online streaming on Monday, May 11, at 7 p.m. EST of Abdi Iftin Nor sharing about his memoir “Call Me American.” Abdi’s story recounts his journey to American citizenship, including his story as a Somali refugee fleeing al-Shabaab to a Kenyan slum, and moves into his fortuitous winning of the U.S. visa lottery. Complete with drama featuring the complicated hoops of the American immigration process and tales of how difficult it is to be an immigrant in this country.
