International Education in the Allegheny Gateway invites you to join BurghMeetsWorld for a free community conversation on addressing anti-Asian racism and building solidarity during COVID-19 on Thursday, May 28, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Register to join the event at this link. The COVID-19 crisis has intensified the racism and xenophobia that have always pervaded our society and systems. Since the outbreak of the pandemic, we have witnessed heightened anti-Asian racism, hate, and violence across the world. Black, LatinX, indigenous, and newcomer communities have been impacted disproportionately by the pandemic, forced to bear higher health and economic costs. How do we bridge the divide between and within our communities to stand in collective solidarity, both during and beyond the pandemic? BurghMeetsWorld is an outlet for people to share their experiences and connect with each other in Pittsburgh and across the world. This participatory, interactive event will serve as a safe space for communities to come together to discuss their experiences and concerns around racism and xenophobia, to think collectively through the ways we can stand in solidarity, and take action to combat racial injustices.
