ENERG 529: Internship with the City of Meadville

Description: An internship with the City of Meadville to help implement a conversion of high-pressure sodium streetlight fixtures to energy efficient light-emitting diode fixtures. Interns participate in the collection of current streetlight fixture data, identify specific areas that could benefit from improved light quality, determine power rating for LED fixtures, consider fee structures of under-contract light fixtures, and help submit documentation to the regional utility company. Interns are expected to meet regularly with City officials, the faculty advisor, and/or any internship liaison to demonstrate progress. Credit: One to four semester hours. Prerequisites: ENVSC 385 or ENERG 485; Permission of the instructor and approval from liaison. Application Process: Interested applicants should submit a resume, up to date unofficial transcript, and letter of interest to mcarter@allegheny.edu by Friday, June 24 2021. Students who are accepted into the internship will be invited to enroll in the course by the start of the fall semester.
