In consultation with the Allegheny College Health Agency (ACHA), the Allegheny IRB provides the following guidelines for any human research conducted by the college over the summer months.Guidelines for fully vaccinated researchers:
All faculty, staff, and students who are fully vaccinated are permitted to go out into the community and engage in human subjects research. If possible, we prefer face-to-face research be conducted with participants who are also vaccinated. Please note that the “No Visitor Policy” is still in place over the summer. Therefore, no research participants can come to campus over the summer to participate in human research. Vaccinated students and faculty can be unmasked, on-campus if they are outside. If you are inside- you are still to be masked.
Guidelines for unvaccinated researchers: For faculty, staff and students who are unvaccinated, all human research needs to be conducted remotely (via Zoom or Google Meet). If you are unvaccinated you must be masked at all times (inside building or outside). In addition, unvaccinated students are not allowed off-campus to engage in college activities, including research. If you have further questions, please contact the IRB chair at lpaulson@allegheny.edu
