Allegheny College’s International Education and Career Education offices invite you to join IES for a conversation about “Why You Should Consider a Career in Public Service” with former Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano on Thursday, June 24, at 6 p.m. ET. Click here to register. Janet Napolitano is a politician, lawyer and university administrator who served as the 21st Governor of Arizona from 2003 to 2009 and third United States Secretary of Homeland Security from 2009 to 2013, under President Barack Obama. Janet studied abroad with IES Abroad in London in 1978. During this event, Gregory D. Hess, Ph.D. President and CEO of IES Abroad, will interview Napolitano covering everything from how she first chose a career in public service, who her career mentors and champions were along the way, how study abroad provided life skills for the various roles she’d held, and how she navigated high level positions in often male dominated spaces. Napolitano is a graduate of Santa Clara University and the University of Virginia School of Law. Don’t miss this enlightening conversation!
