Join the Title IX Team

Interested in Title IX? There are many opportunities to become a part of Allegheny College’s Title IX team. In addition to the Title IX Coordinator, roles include: Deputy Title IX Coordinator, Title IX Investigator, Title IX Community Standards Board Member and Advisor of Choice/Community Support Person.

Deputy Title IX Coordinators: Allegheny College appoints deputies to provide resources and information on campus services and policies related to sex discrimination. All deputies will meet with the Title IX Coordinator on a regular basis to coordinate efforts. Deputies are knowledgeable about, and will provide information on, all options for complaint resolution. The deputies, as part of Allegheny’s Title IX team, play an integral role in carrying out the College’s commitment to provide a positive learning, teaching and working environment for the entire community.

Title IX Investigators: Investigators are responsible for conducting and managing investigations of complaints of sex discrimination, relationship violence, stalking and sexual misconduct including sexual harassment and sexual assault. An investigator gathers facts about an alleged violation of the Harassment, Discrimination and Sexual Misconduct Policy and compiles this information into an investigation report that will be provided to the Title IX Coordinator, Community Standards Board Members and other decision makers involved in resolving a complaint.

Title IX Community Standards Board Member: The Community Standards Board conducts hearings to consider relevant information about alleged violations of the Harassment, Discrimination and Sexual Misconduct Policy. The Board hears from the parties and witnesses and discusses the alleged violation to determine whether College policy, rules, and/or regulations have been violated. The Board determines sanctions, if appropriate and necessary. The Community Standards Board will have access to a Board Advisor who is trained in current policy and process to answer procedural questions and advise regarding the adjudication process.

Advisor of Choice/Community Support Person: An Advisor of Choice/Community Support Person supports and advises a reporting or responding party throughout the reporting, investigative and grievance process. The primary role of the Advisor of Choice/Community Support Person is to assist the individual in preparing for meetings and to attend meetings/hearings, as needed.
