The NSF STEM Team wants to know about your experience on campus. With your help, the Allegheny NSF researchers aim to create a supportive, sustainable STEM cohort environment. Surveys/focus groups aim to poll students who intend on majoring in STEM regarding their STEM experience on campus. Thus, your experience is vital in creating and shaping future cohorts. Participants are asked to complete 4 study intervals throughout their four years at Allegheny College (1st semester, 1st year, 2nd year, and at graduation or exiting a STEM major). One interval consists of one in-person 30-minute survey and one in-person 50-minute focus group within the same semester. All students will receive free lunch and a $20 gift card for each interval completed within the same semester. Eligibility: First-year students (class of 2026) who intend to major in Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Math, Neuroscience, or Physics are eligible for the NSF STEM study. This study is IRB-approved.

Please contact Dr. Ivelitza Garcia (igarcia@allegheny.edu, 814-332-5357) or Dr. Lauren French (lfrench@allegheny.edu, 814-332-3306) to participate in the survey.
