The Office of Admissions is looking to hire 5 first-year students! This position, Gator Meet, is a role within the Gator Guide position in our office. This is a new student position for first-year students. It is an opportunity to develop skills in leadership, interpersonal communications, organizational operations, and marketing. The Gator Guide reports directly to the professional staff members who coordinate the Gator Guides, with additional guidance from the Gator Meet program coordinators. The Guides will typically work 5 hours a week, some weeks including participation in Admissions events. The Gator Guide is expected to understand and uphold the mission of Allegheny College and to espouse the value of the liberal arts. The Guide is also expected to be knowledgeable about current events happening at Allegheny College, and to evaluate what information might be pertinent to share with interested high school students. In addition to maintaining weekly office hours as a Gator Guide, responsibilities could include assisting in any or all of the following:
- Moderate one GroupMe chat room
- Answer questions from potential students
- Participate in training on how to interact with interested high school students
- Relaying information to admissions staff on trends and commonalities seen in chats
- Post in chats about upcoming events, life in Meadville, campus life, etc.
- Participate in at least 2 open houses or recruitment programs (e.g. Open Houses, Fall Into Allegheny)
- General office work as needed by Admissions staff (e.g. computer logging, filing, postcards)
- Managing one-on-one conversations with students (DM questions)
