Single Voice Reading Series To Feature Poet Karla Kelsey

MEADVILLE, Pa. – March 26, 2008 – Award-winning poet Karla Kelsey will read from her work at 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 10 in the Tillotson Room of Allegheny College’s Tippie Alumni Center at Cochran Hall. The program, which is free and open to the public, is part of the college’s Single Voice Reading Series.

Karla Kelsey’s first book, “Knowledge, Forms, the Aviary,” was selected by Carolyn ForchÈ to win the Sawtooth Poetry Prize and was published by Ahsahta Press in 2006. Kelsey’s poetry and essays on poetry have recently appeared in such magazines as The New Review of Literature, The Boston Review, and Fence.

She holds the Winifred and Gustave Weber Professorship in the Humanities at Susquehanna University and teaches courses in poetry, editing and publishing. She has also recently started a chapbook press specializing in fine press editions of poetry, prose, and visual collaborations. Her second book, “Iteration Nets,” centers on the sonnet form and is forthcoming from Ahsahta Press.
