Update to Campus Alert: Suspect Is in Custody

April 20, 2012 — Classes and other campus activities resumed at Allegheny College on Thursday following Wednesday’s campus lockdown as police pursued a man they believed was armed in a neighborhood near campus. Today Meadville Police Chief Dave Stefanucci announced that the subject of the manhunt has been taken into custody in Ohio.

While our efforts on Wednesday were directed toward keeping our campus community safe and informed during a difficult day, today we acknowledge our students, faculty and other community members for their calm and capable response to Wednesday’s events.

As is always the case, we ask members of our campus community to call the Office of Safety and Security at 814-332-3357 to report any activity that seems suspicious or if they would like to request an escort.
