Playshop Theatre To Present “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”

Nov. 8, 2012 — The Allegheny College Playshop Theatre continues its 83rd season with “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” a classic Shakespearean comedy adapted and directed by Dan Crozier. Performances will be presented in the Gladys Mullenix Black Theatre in the Vukovich Center for Communication Arts November 15-18: Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2:30 p.m.

The scenery, designed by faculty member Michael Mehler, and the costumes, by guest artist Sue O’Neill, present a world that is disturbed by nature and distorted by human intervention. Music director Aimee Reash has composed original music, and Allegheny senior Katie Krackhardt has choreographed dances for the production.

The cast of 25 includes seniors Colleen McCaughey and Austin Scales, juniors Katie Beck and Maggie Boone, and sophomores Sam Reitman, Alexis Eldridge, Lee Scandinaro, Lizzy Thompson and A.J. Long.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $7.50 for non-Allegheny students, senior citizens and Allegheny employees. Although admission is free for Allegheny students with identification, they are asked to make reservations. For more information or to order tickets, contact the Playshop Theatre box office at 814-332-3414.
