Allegheny Chorus, Chamber Choir, Women’s Ensemble and Choir To Perform

Nov. 26, 2012 — The Allegheny Choirs will perform a free concert at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1, in Shafer Auditorium at Allegheny College. Holiday selections will figure prominently in the program, which will include performances by the Allegheny College Chorus, Chamber Choir, Women’s Ensemble and Choir. The combined choirs will round out the program with two selections.

The program will include works by Mendelssohn, Alfred Burt, Benjamin Britten and other historic and contemporary composers.

James D. Niblock, who graduated from Allegheny College in 1997, will lead the choirs for the first time as successor to Ward Jamison, who retired after 31 years as choir director. Jamison will continue to contribute as an accompanist, alongside organists Kevin Dill and Jim Ross.

Also joining the choirs in a collaborative role is Jim Froman, who teaches guitar at Allegheny.
