Tickets Available for DeHart Local Foods Dinner: Event Also Includes Farmers Market

Sept. 20, 2013 —The annual DeHart Local Foods Dinner will take place at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, October 2 in Schultz Banquet Hall at Allegheny College. Preceding the dinner will be the DeHart Farmers Market on the college’s Brooks Walk, featuring local food vendors, fall activities and live music.

The DeHart Local Foods Dinner is held in honor of Jennifer DeHart, a professor of environmental science at Allegheny who died in 2010. DeHart was a major advocate for the local foods movement on the Allegheny campus and in the Meadville community. The dinner in her honor will feature only local food, grown by a wide variety of producers in the Meadville area.

Participation in the farmers market is free. Vendors interested in running a table are asked to contact Mark Ams at mams@allegheny.edu.

Tickets for the dinner – which cost $15 for members of the community — are on sale at the college’s Campus Center from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. during the week of September 23. Tickets will also be available at the Market House starting September 24.
