Allegheny College Featured in “Fiske Guide to Colleges 2020”

Allegheny College is featured in the “Fiske Guide to Colleges 2020,” the 36th edition of a reference book for prospective students and their families that describes life on campus at the country’s best colleges and universities.

The “Fiske Guide to Colleges” publishes detailed profiles, including interviews with students, for more than 300 four-year schools. The guide is fully updated and expanded every year, and, according to USA Today, is the most authoritative source of information for college-bound students and their parents.

The “Fiske Guide to Colleges” describes Allegheny as a place “with a rich history of academic excellence,” where students complete a Senior Comprehensive Project and at least one minor in addition to their major. “Students praise Allegheny’s faculty for their passion, knowledge and accessibility,” according to the guide. An economics major interviewed for the guide shared that “All the professors I’ve had take my success very seriously, and understand that my learning is different from other students.”

The “Fiske Guide to Colleges” also notes that Allegheny students gain real-world experience alongside their classroom work. It highlights the Allegheny Gateway, a clearinghouse for internship opportunities, service learning, overseas study, career services and nationally competitive fellowships.
