Shannan Mattiace has been a member of the faculty at Allegheny since 1999. Prior to Allegheny, she taught at the University of Texas at Austin and at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine, and was a visiting fellow at the Center for U.S.-Mexican Studies at the University of California, San Diego. She served as a Fulbright Scholar to Chiapas, Mexico, from 1995-1996 and to Santiago, Chile in 2019. Mattiace is the editor of the Mexican Government and Politics section of the Handbook of Latin American Studies at the Library of Congress and the author of “To See With Two Eyes: Peasant Activism and Indian Autonomy in Chiapas, Mexico,” among other publications.
