Health and Wellness

Allegheny strives to create a community supportive of our students’ intellectual, physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. Learning how and when to seek assistance is an important part of staying healthy and feeling your best at Allegheny.

Health & Wellness Services

The Winslow Health Center and the Counseling and Personal Development Center are your on-campus resources for physical and mental health needs.

Action 1: Complete the pre-matriculation health status form by June 30

All entering students are required to have a current medical exam from a physician. We recommend you schedule an appointment as soon as possible.

Completed forms can be mailed or faxed to (814) 336-3050.

Action 2: Healthcare insurance coverage and fee

All students are required to carry valid health insurance that provides coverage in the Meadville area. The College automatically enrolls students in United Healthcare Student Insurance unless they decline coverage. All students are required to either “Decline” or “Accept” the coverage.

Allegheny enrolls and pays the premium for students who do not decline coverage. The insurance fee for 2021–2022 is around $1,600. It will be added to your summer student billing statement if you do not manually decline in Self-Service.

Log in to Self-Service and select the “Insurance Agreement,” which will be available in the Student Agreements tab in May 2021. Complete the form and submit. The deadline for submission is June 30, 2021.

This form must be completed each year. Declining insurance for one year does not carry over to subsequent years.

We recommend that students bring their current health insurance card to campus.

We also recommend that you check with your current health insurance provider about coverage in Meadville, Crawford County, and surrounding areas. Depending on your current coverage, you may decide to pursue coverage with United Healthcare. More information is available at
