Speak About It! is a performance-based presentation about consent, boundaries and healthy relationships using a combination of humorous yet provocative skits, interactive dialogue and powerful monologues. The skits address consent, sexual assault, and bystander intervention. (The link to join this event will be sent to your Allegheny email.)

Allegheny is especially well known for the undergraduate preparation of successful health professionals. Our graduates do more than gain admission to professional school; they perform exceptionally well once there, and they flourish in their careers. Our Pre-Health advisor will provide an overview of the Pre-Health Professions program, including resources to help students prepare for careers in the medical, dental, and veterinary professions. Allegheny Listens Common Reading is a shared learning experience designed to introduce new students to each other and to the academic community. New students will come together for a faculty panel and small group discussions that encompass a shared learning experience introducing them to diversity and academic discourse.

If you need to make adjustments to your course schedule for Fall 2020, you should use this time to speak with your academic advisor (if you have not already done so).

If you wish to add any courses, you will do so through Self-Service. Because you will need faculty permission (given electronically via Self-Service) to add any and all classes starting August 31, you should use this time to reach out to the faculty member who is teaching the course you wish to add.

You may drop courses via Self-Service, but should only do so after consulting your academic advisor.

Students will be welcomed by President Hilary L. Link and learn more about the College’s expectations and commitment to community. The ceremony serves as the official welcome for new students into our community of scholars, including the Honor Code Pledge and an address by Assistant Professor of Community and Justice Studies Heather Moore Roberson, who received the 2020 Thoburn Award for Excellence in Teaching.

Supplies delivered by noon to residence halls

Music faculty and current students will be available to answer general questions, as well as those regarding ensemble auditions, applied lessons, instrument loan and storage policies, and Music theory diagnostic exams. Separate auditions for various ensembles will be held throughout the week. The open house will be held in Shafer Auditorium, or you may attend remotely via Google Meet here.

Come learn about part-time, on-campus jobs and how to apply regardless of financial need. Students do not need to apply for financial aid to be considered for available campus positions. Please watch for an email the week of August 24 including the packet of paperwork, instructions, and a link to sign up for an appointment to complete your student employment paperwork.
