2019-2020 Season

Denied Admission

Devised and Directed by Katie Beck
September 13-15, 2019

Is freedom made by you or given by others? Gum-Dip Theatre’s Denied Admission examines the boundaries of personal liberty in a new play based on credible fear interviews of asylum seekers who crossed the southern U.S. border. This new work will explore the rooms of the legal system, the streets of the Northern Triangle, and the hearts of those seeking a home.

By Branden Jacobs-Jenkins
Directed by Beth Watkins
November 14-17, 2019

Everybody is gonna die!  The question is, who will join Everybody on the journey?  Good Deeds? Cousin? Stuff? Branden Jacob-Jenkins’ contemporary riff on a very old play saucily reminds us of the world we live in as well as what lies ahead.  This Pulitzer Prize-nominated work is a playful, irreverent take on life as a game of chance.

By Lynn Nottage
Directed by Mark Cosdon
March 26-29, 2019

Lynn Nottage’s Sweat is a powerful and timely Pulitzer-winning drama.  In a Pennsylvania manufacturing town beset by the loss of jobs, economic strife, and simmering racial tensions, friendships are pushed to the breaking point, dreams of economic prosperity are upended, and the seeds of a Blue State flipping Red are sown in this searing, bold, and impassioned work.
