“At Allegheny I’ve become the scholar, leader, and community member I am today.”
— Francheska Vargas
When Francheska Vargas began the college application process, she heard friends say, “I’m going to study biology” or “I’m planning to play field hockey.” It wasn’t that simple for her.
As the varsity tennis captain and a member of Science Olympiad, in addition to her passion for political science and economics, she had more than one interest she wanted to explore. Then she found Allegheny.
Now on the pre-law track at Allegheny as a political science major with minors in economics and Spanish, Francheska has been a representative of Allegheny Student Government, served as treasurer of the Pre-Law Club, and led Unión Latina as president. She’s also a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and now serves as president of the Panhellenic Council.
Francheska has also explored her interests off- campus. With the help of her pre-law advisor and the Allegheny College Center for Experiential Learning, she attended two summer pre-law programs, including one in Chicago. Sophomore year she volunteered for an Alternative Spring Break in Washington, D.C., and this summer she will attend a Greek Life leadership conference.
“At Allegheny I’ve become the scholar, leader, and community member I am today,” says Vargas. “I chose Allegheny because they let me combine all of my interests and explore new ones, preparing me not only for the challenge of law school, but for my future.”
