Books have always been used for disseminating information and conducting education, but artists have been creating (and re-creating) books as art objects for more than a century. The artist’s book is a hybrid form that keeps pace with contemporary techniques and materials while also keeping traditional craft alive. Featured artists include Brian Dettmer, John Cage, Jenny Holzer, Alfredo Jaar, Clarissa Sligh, Kara Walker, Daniel Embree, and many others. This exhibition is part of the Year of Transforming Education at Allegheny College.
