Student Life Programming Coordinator

Summary of Position

Reporting to the Associate Dean for Student Life, the Student Life Programming Coordinator is a key partner in cultivating a vibrant and inclusive campus culture. This role directly impacts the student experience by championing high-quality, diverse programming and fostering essential leadership skills. The position will seek to empower student leaders through advising the Gator Activities Programming (GAP) and co-advising Allegheny Student Government (ASG). The position will drive campus engagement by collaborating with Athletics to elevate the game-day experience and partnering with departments to deliver robust campus-wide events. This is a live-on position that offers the unique experience of being fully immersed in the residential college environment, serving as a first responder on the Student Life On-Call rotation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Empower Student Leadership and Campus Programming: Directly advise Gator Activities Programming (GAP) and provide vision and guidance to student leaders in developing, marketing, and executing a diverse range of high-quality campus events and traditions that enhance the social and intellectual life of the college.
  • Cultivate Student Governance and Voice: Co-advise Allegheny Student Government (ASG). Mentor student executive officers in organizational management, policy development, budget allocation, and effective advocacy, serving as a resource for institutional knowledge and best practices.
  • Enhance Campus Spirit and Engagement: Serve as the Student Life liaison to the Athletics Department. Strategically plan and implement high-energy game-day activities, tailgates, and spirit events to significantly increase student attendance and create a vibrant, unifying experience for the college community.
  • Support Campus-Wide Initiatives: Create, manage, and assess cross-departmental programming (e.g., orientation events, wellness weeks, end-of-semester celebrations) in collaboration with Academic Affairs, Residence Life, and other campus partners to promote student success and community building.
  • Ensure Student Safety and Support: Participate in the Student Life On-Call duty rotation (first responder level). Respond to and manage crisis situations, providing immediate intervention, resource referral, and critical documentation to support student well-being and campus safety.
  • Manage Operational Logistics: Oversee the Student Life transportation system, including the operation of the Gator Express shuttle and the scheduling and management of break-time transportation to support student travel needs.

Experience and Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s degree preferred. All fields of study are welcome. Study of Higher Education, Student Leadership or Communication Arts are preferred.
  • 1–3 years of related experience preferred

Required Knowledge

  • Knowledge of FERPA and other applicable privacy laws and regulations
  • Knowledge of student interests and engagement.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Interest in mentoring and motivation of college-aged students. Organizational skills, budget management, and event planning are preferred.
  • Strong listening and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage potentially stressful and crisis situations.
  • Ability to be adaptive to student needs.

Compensation

Starting salary will be competitive, based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Expected starting salary: $17.10 full time, non-exempt

Summary of Position

The Director of Residence Education provides strategic leadership for housing and programs, fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging four-year residential experience that supports student retention, holistic development, and academic success in alignment with Allegheny College’s Strategic Pathway. This position is responsible for the design, execution, and continuous maintenance of a robust residential curriculum, ensuring it highlights the educational benefits of the residency requirement. The Director provides hands-on supervision and mentorship to the professional Residence Life team and oversees the recruitment, training, and management of a 55-person student staff. Critically, this role collaborates with key campus partners—including Academic Success, Athletics, and Operations—to deliver integrated, high-quality services grounded in a comprehensive student development philosophy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Professional Staff Leadership, Supervision, and Mentorship: Provide direct supervision, performance management, and ongoing professional development to the full-time professional Residence Life staff, ensuring equitable administration of College policy.
  • Residential Curriculum Strategy and Assessment: Lead the design, implementation, and rigorous assessment of the comprehensive Residential Curriculum, utilizing data to demonstrate learning outcomes and measure the impact of the four-year residency model.
  • Budget Management and Fiscal Planning: In consultation with the Dean for Student Life, manage and monitor the department’s operating and programming budgets, overseeing purchasing, expenditure approval, and long-range capital planning for residential resources.
  • Student Staff Development and Talent Pipeline: Direct the recruitment, selection, comprehensive training, and ongoing performance management for approximately 55 student resident life staff members, ensuring high standards for mentorship and service delivery.
  • Campus Collaboration and Integrated Services: Serve as the primary departmental liaison for strategic campus partners (e.g., Academic Success, Operations, Athletics), ensuring integrated services and collaborative support for student retention and experience.
  • Crisis Management and Dean-Level On-Call Response: Serve in an escalated, year-round administrative on-call rotation to provide high-level response and critical incident management for campus emergencies and complex student conduct matters.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
  • 4-7 years of related professional experience required

Summary of Position

The Student Experience Operations Coordinator provides essential support for the operational and technological functions of the Student Experience division, reporting to the Director of Student Experience Operations and Strategy. This role is a key partner in executing strategic initiatives that enhance the overall student journey at Allegheny College. This position is a primary point of contact for day-to-day operations and provides direct assistance to multiple departments by organizing, managing, and streamlining various processes. This includes: Systems Management – assisting with data reporting from various platforms and managing the academic alert system and communications to incoming students; Operational Execution – supporting Residence Life in housing selection and student move-in logistics and managing the safe room program; and Strategic Support – providing dedicated operational assistance to Global Education and the Center for Career and Professional Development. This is a full-time, live-in position and a member of the First Responder On-Call rotation, for which a meal plan is provided. The Coordinator’s role is critical to delivering a seamless, high-quality experience for all Allegheny College students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute Student Life Operations: Provide direct, hands-on support for Student Life operations, including supporting housing selection processes, generating reports, coordinating with campus partners, processing work orders, and supervising student staff.
  • Support Academic Success Systems: Assist in the day-to-day management of Academic Success systems, with a focus on orientation communications, academic alerts, and general data reporting needs.
  • Provide Operational Assistance: Deliver targeted operational support to Global Education and the Center for Career and Professional Development to help facilitate their daily functions.
  • Participate in On-Call Response: Serve as a member of the on-call staff rotation, responding to student and campus emergencies as needed.

Experience and Qualifications
