A comedy set in the 1880s at the dawn of the electrical age. Dr. Givings has created a medical device (the vibrator) for treating “hysteria” in women at his operating theater which flanks the family parlor. His curious and energetic wife Catherine needs to know what is going on in the next room and makes important discoveries about herself, her marriage and her sexuality.
The Playshop will present a Talk Back immediately after the performance on Friday, November 16. Dan Crozier, director will moderate a conversation with Jennifer Hellwarth, Courtney Bailey and the audience to discuss the issues brought up by the play.
