John Kaltner To Give Talk on “Muslim-Christian Relations: Moving Beyond ‘Us’ and ‘Them’”

Oct. 14, 2014 – John Kaltner, the Virginia Ballou McGehee Professor of Muslim-Christian Relations at Rhodes College, will speak at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 20 in Ford Chapel at Allegheny College. His presentation, which is free and open to the public, is titled “Muslim-Christian Relations: Moving Beyond ‘Us’ and ‘Them’.”

Kaltner, who teaches courses in the Bible, Islam and the Arabic language at Rhodes College, is the author of numerous books on Islam and other faiths, including “Introducing the Qur′an for Today′s Reader,” “What Do Our Neighbors Believe? Questions and Answers on Judaism, Christianity, and Islam,” “Islam: What Non-Muslims Should Know,” “Inquiring of Joseph: Getting to Know a Biblical Character through the Qur’an” and “Ishmael Instructs Isaac: An Introduction to the Qur’an for Bible Readers.”

His lecture at Allegheny is supported by the Harry C. Winslow and Madeleine King Winslow Ecumenical Fund.
