Allegheny College’s Marjie Klein Selected As Outstanding Fundraising Professional

Nov. 6, 2014 – Marjie Klein, vice president for development and alumni affairs at Allegheny College, has been selected as Outstanding Fundraising Professional by the Northwestern PA Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.

Klein has more than 25 years of experience in fundraising and constituent relations. She has directly and indirectly raised more than a quarter-billion dollars for two major educational institutions and contributed her expertise to thousands of donors, volunteers, nonprofit organizations and employees.

At Allegheny, Klein oversees all of the college’s development and alumni affairs programs and is a member of President James H. Mullen’s senior staff and the college’s Administrative Executive Committee. She works closely with the college president and trustees to formulate and execute engagement and philanthropic opportunities for the college’s most promising donors.

Klein is currently leading Allegheny’s largest-ever comprehensive capital campaign, Our Allegheny: Our Third Century Quest, with a $200 million goal and the aim of doubling the college’s endowment. She leads a 40-member team of development and alumni affairs professionals.

Klein’s career in collegiate fundraising began at Gannon University, where she worked as executive director of development and alumni relations. She holds a bachelor’s degree in theater and arts from Gannon University and completed the Harvard University Management Development Program in 2002. She spent one year in Bogota, Colombia, through the Rotary Foreign Exchange Program.

Klein will be recognized at the chapter’s National Philanthropy Day luncheon in Erie on Nov. 14.
