Nov. 12, 2015 – Mark Campbell and Antonio “Tony” Dias have been elected to leadership positions on the Board of Trustees of Allegheny College.

Campbell, who was elected vice chair of the board, graduated from Allegheny College in 1982 and has served as a trustee since 2007. A Partner with the Ridge Policy Group, a federal and state bipartisan government affairs practice with offices in Washington, D.C. and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Campbell is the former chief of staff to two Pennsylvania governors, Tom Ridge and Mark Schweiker. He also serves on the board of the Tom Ridge Environmental Center at Presque Isle.

“Mark Campbell brings a deep love for Allegheny and the liberal arts, as well as a life-long passion for public service, to the vice chairmanship of his alma mater,” said Allegheny College President James H. Mullen Jr. “His achievements as a civil voice in doing the people’s business should inspire us all—particularly our students, whom we hope will embrace government service as a worthy calling.”

Campbell resides in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, with his wife, Nancy Middleton Campbell, a 1983 graduate of Allegheny College. They have a son, Tyler.

Dias, who graduated from Allegheny College in 1986, was elected secretary of the board. He is a Partner in the Jones Day law firm in Washington, D.C. and co-leads the firm’s global Financial Institutions Litigation and Regulation practice. Jones Day has over 2,400 attorneys on five continents. Dias holds leadership positions in national and local organizations promoting better public policy and improving children’s health and education. A member of Allegheny’s board of trustees since 2013, he also serves on the board of directors of the National Organization of African Americans in Housing and as a member of the U.S. Conference of Mayors Business Council.

“Tony Dias represents the highest in integrity and professional excellence,” said Mullen. “As an alumnus, parent of two Allegheny students and a nationally regarded attorney, Tony will be a tremendous Secretary of the Board.”

Dias and his wife, Amy, live in Potomac, Maryland. Their son Nicholas is a junior at Allegheny College, and their son Taylor is a freshman.

The Allegheny College Board of Trustees is the governing body elected to oversee the college. The board’s primary responsibilities relate to policymaking and sound management of the college’s resources.
