The Center for Career & Professional Development (CCPD) is the career resource for the Allegheny community: for students and alumni as you build successful, meaningful lives, and for faculty and staff as you connect your work with students to their future plans.

  • Career Coaching 
    • First Years & Sophomores – Get to know what the CCPD has to offer, explore majors and minors, discuss how your Allegheny education can align with potential paths.
    • Juniors, Seniors, & Alumni – Get to know (more) about what the CCPD has to offer, get advice and guidance about your career plan, explore possibilities and set goals.
  • Exploring Purpose
    • Find your “why” as you consider career options. Work with a coach to integrate your career planning with your understanding of your values, passions, sense of community and contribution, and the meaningful life you want to build.
  • Graduate School Support 
    • As you also talk with faculty in your discipline, talk with the CCPD about graduate school possibilities, get help with the application process and support with personal statement(s), and guide your progress toward completing applications.
  • Help with CPT (International Students)
    • If you are an international student who has been offered an internship, you can schedule an appointment with the CCPD to help us verify your experience. (You should have already met with Lenee, and will need to have a copy of your offer letter for the appointment).
  • Internships
    • First Years & Sophomores – Explore the possibilities, discuss strategies, and formulate a plan to search, find, and apply for opportunities.
    • Juniors, Seniors, & Alumni – Explore potential jobs or internships, discuss goals and search strategy, and check in on your progress and next steps.
    • Funding – Review and discuss potential funding opportunities, learn about the application process and eligibility requirements.
  • Interview Preparation 
    • Discuss interview techniques, learn strategies that address open-ended questions and more. Practice answering questions and receive feedback on performance.
    • Students in each class year will meet with their designated career coach.
  • Nationally Competitive Fellowships/Scholarships
    • Talk about your options for nationally competitive opportunities (Fulbright, etc.) and get help with your application process and materials. Some opportunities require official support from your institution — get that here too!
  • Networking, LinkedIn, & Gator2Gator Platforms 
    • Learn strategies to effectively build your professional network. 
    • Discover why LinkedIn & Gator2Gator are important (and how they differ) and optimize your profiles. 
    • Get tips & tricks for networking, including how to connect with professionals & alumni, find mentors, and explore career paths. 
    • Learn strategies for informational interviews, craft a compelling summary, and leverage platforms to stand out and connect.
    • Students in each class year will meet with their designated career coach.
  • Pre-Health & Pre-Law Advising & Support 
    • Discuss pre-health (including medicine, nursing, vet, etc.) & law professions and steps you might take toward developing a career in one of these exciting fields!
  • Resume/Cover Letter Help
    • Get help starting to write or revising your resume, or tailor it for a specific opportunity. Bring a draft with you, if you have one started. (Samples & resources are in Handshake, too!)
