Nationally Competitive Opportunities
Many organizations — from governments to foundations to corporate entities — offer opportunities that can help fund or enhance your education and career preparation. These opportunities can take many forms:
- scholarships for undergraduate study
- scholarships for graduate study
- funding opportunities for specific experiences (e.g., study abroad or a particular internship)
- fellowships that organize and fund a specific experience
To get a sense of which nationally competitive opportunities might match your needs and interests, you can browse this list.
What they have in common is that they’re nationally competitive — that is, students from across the country apply for them, and there are more (often several times more) applicants than there are awards.
The fact that they’re competitive shouldn’t make you discount them, though! If you’re successful at Allegheny, it means you have the skills to compete.
You do need to be sure you present the best possible application for opportunities like this, though. Plus, their application processes are all unique and sometimes complicated, and some opportunities require you to have formal institutional support. The CCPD is here to help you navigate all of that!
