History

When researching energy related courses in the History Departments of other liberal arts colleges, I located four courses that could provide useful models or examples for the development of a History component in Allegheny’s program. These courses are not wholly focused on energy, but could easily include substantial energy-focused sections. These courses are: History of Ecological Imperialism, Global Environmental History, Climate Change and Disaster in History, and Car Country: The Automobile and the American Environment.

Currently we lack a specific focus for a course in History, but hope to begin researching some resources soon. I am very interested in the prospect of a course similar to “Car Country,” and am currently researching it further to locate a syllabus or resource list.
