Summary of Position
Reporting to the Director of Retail Operations, the Retail Marketing & E-Commerce Specialist plays a critical role in shaping the public image and revenue performance of Allegheny College’s retail operations. This position is responsible for developing and executing innovative marketing strategies, overseeing the e-commerce platform, and leading targeted outreach across all digital channels. As a key member of the cross-functional retail team, including the Merriman Campus Store, Campus Post Office, and Printing Services, the Specialist is expected to work both independently and collaboratively to drive brand engagement, increase sales, and enhance the visibility of campus retail services. This individual must be highly self-motivated, organized, and digitally fluent, with the ability to transform ideas into effective campaigns. The role requires a strategic thinker who is also a hands-on executor, capable of managing multiple projects with a focus on data-driven outcomes, creative storytelling, and community engagement.

As the Campus Post Office Clerk, you will:
- Marketing Strategy & Campaign Execution – Develop and implement integrated marketing plans to promote retail services and drive revenue growth. Align campaigns with seasonal opportunities, campus events, and customer behavior insights.
- E-Commerce Management – Oversee the Merriman Campus Store’s online platform, ensuring accuracy, visual appeal, and performance. Monitor sales data and trends to inform product placement, promotions, and user experience improvements.
- Digital Content & Social Media – Create and manage compelling content across social media platforms to engage target audiences. Plan and execute campaigns that reflect the College’s brand, drive online and in-store traffic, and enhance customer connection.
- Email Marketing & CRM – Design and distribute email marketing campaigns to highlight new products, promotions, and events. Utilize CRM tools to analyze customer data and create targeted communications that increase engagement and loyalty.
- Design & Visual Communication – Produce branded marketing materials for both digital and print formats, including signage, promotional items, event assets, and store displays. Ensure all visual content aligns with the College’s brand standards.
- Cross-Campus Collaboration & Event Support – Coordinate with departments such as Admissions, Athletics, Advancement, and Student Life to integrate retail support into major events. Provide marketing and merchandising support to ensure high-quality service during campus activities like orientation, Family Weekend, and Commencement

Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 1 – 3 years experience required, 4 – 7 years of experience preferred.
Required Knowledge of
- Strong technical proficiency in tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Canva, WordPress, and CRM/email platforms like Mailchimp or HubSpot.
- A working knowledge of e-commerce platforms and content management systems is expected, along with an understanding of social media algorithms, digital marketing metrics, and customer journey best practices.
Required Skills in
- This role requires exceptional creativity, attention to detail, and strong written and visual communication abilities.
- Candidates should have proven skills in content creation, data interpretation, project management, and digital storytelling.
- The ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple deadlines, and analyze campaign performance for continuous improvement is essential.
