About President Cole

Dr. Ron Cole ’87 was named Allegheny’s 23rd president in September 2022.

President Cole has a deep history with Allegheny College having served as the provost and dean of the college for seven years and as a faculty member in the geology department for 20 years. He is also a proud graduate of the College. He is a nationally recognized speaker on campus leadership, transformational change, community engaged learning, and the value of the liberal arts. He was the recipient of the Council of Independent Colleges Chief Academic Officer Award in 2021.

Under Dr. Cole’s leadership, the College has undertaken an inclusive strategic planning process. As president, he has continued his steadfast focus on the student experience both in and out of the classroom.
