Allegheny College Jazz Band and Jazz Improv Class To Perform in Concert
April 8, 2013 – AC Jazz, the Allegheny College Jazz Band, will present a free concert at 3:15 p.m. on Sunday, April 14, in the lobby of the college’s Campus Center. The band is under the direction of Ronald Stitt. Admission is free.
AC Jazz will perform a variety of music representing jazz styles from the Big Band Era to contemporary stylings. The program will include Stan Kenton’s “Maleguena,” Billy Strayhorn’s “Take the ‘A’ Train,” Sammy Nestico’s “A Song for Sarah” and senior saxophonist Brandon Staley’s new arrangement of “Skyfall,” the Academy Award Best Song for 2013.
Members of the Jazz Improv class under the direction of James Froman will give a pre-concert performance in the lobby starting at 2:30 p.m.
