In February, Allegheny welcomed students back to campus for Module 2 of the spring semester. The annual Midwinter Festival, sponsored by Spiritual and Religious Life in early March Students enjoyed springlike weather — and a day off from classes — on March 10. Spectators from the campus community were permitted to return to Gator athletics home contests, including this softball game, in March. The Allegheny community joined together on March 23 to hold a vigil for victims of shootings in Atlanta and to bring awareness to anti-Asian violence. Allegheny alumni sent more than 500 notes of encouragement to students in the spring. The Allegheny Art Galleries’ “Performance Anxiety” exhibit was on display in March and April. On April 22, Gators from around the globe made a record-setting 2,612 gifts to Allegheny, totaling more than $1 million, as a part of the 7th Gator Give Day. The traditional “Burning of the Comps” during Senior Day festivities The inaugural First-Generation Pinning Ceremony recognized Class of 2021 graduates who were first in their families to attend college. Commencement for the Class of 2021 Associate Registrar Debbie Zinz received the Robert T. Sherman Distinguished Service Award at the Employee Recognition Ceremony in June. Class of 2020 graduates reunited on the evening before their Commencement ceremony in July. The Class of 2020 was honored at Commencement on July 31 — a ceremony delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Professor Richard Bowden and Katie Brozell ’23 conducted soil research in Bousson Environmental Research Reserve during the summer. The Maytum Center for Student Success opened in Pelletier Library during the summer. During the summer, Grace Hemmelgarn ’22, Danielle Studer ’22, and Dr. Mark Kirk ’11 helped the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission monitor water quality and document the presence of valuable aquatic life in area streams. Members of the Class of 2025 gather in the Campus Center during Gator Week of Welcome activities in August. President Hilary L. Link addressed new students at the First-Year Academic Convocation and Matriculation Ceremony. Students kicked off the fall semester with a pep rally on Bentley Hall Lawn. The College celebrated the rededication of the restored Bentley Hall on Oct. 16. College and community volunteers served the community on Make a Difference Day. The Allegheny club ice hockey team competes in a home contest. The Gator Women’s Cross Country team won its 16th NCAC championship on Oct. 30. Intro to Public History students created pop-up museum events on campus in November. On Dec. 1, Pennsylvania Treasurer Stacy Garrity toured the Allegheny campus to promote the PA 529 College and Career Savings Program and learn more about the College. The “Untitled: Advanced Studio and Senior Project Show” was on display in the Allegheny College Art Galleries in December. Dress rehearsal for the annual Cookies and Milk Dance Concert The College celebrated Pride Day at the men’s and women’s basketball games on Dec. 4. Late Night Breakfast on the last day of fall semester classes
