Theta Alpha Kappa is the national honor society for Religious Studies and Theology; Allegheny College has been a member since 2010. TAK publishes a semiannual journal.
The purpose of TAK, as noted in its constitution, is four-fold:
- To encourage excellence in the study of religion at both the undergraduate an graduate levels
- To recognize excellence in scholarly and academic achievements
- To help foster and maintain excellents in the professional academic study of religion
- To help local chapters in their efforts to fulfill these purposes
In Spring 2011 the Allegheny College chapter inducted their first inductees. In order to be eligible, students must have a 3.5 GPA in Religious Studies and at least a 3.0 GPA overall.
