System Maintenance

Scheduled Campus Phone System Maintenance

In order to address miscellaneous recent issues with Allegheny’s VOIP phone system, our phone service provider has advised a reboot of the system, scheduled for Monday morning, February 3, at 7:00 am.

This reboot would affect all desk phones on campus. The outage is expected to last about ten minutes.

Fax service, alarm dialers, and emergency phones should not be affected during the outage.

If you are still experiencing any disruption of campus phone service after 7:20 am, please contact the InfoDesk immediately by email at infodesk@allegheny.edu.

PaperCut Printing

Over Winter break, LITS updated the PaperCut software that administers printing all over campus.

Anyone using a Mac computer should visit the InfoDesk in Pelletier, or open a Web Help Desk ticket, and LITS staff will work with you to update the PaperCut client on your Mac.

Windows 10 PCs will need to reboot to reconnect to the print server. Some Windows 10 PCs may need to have the PaperCut client uninstalled and reinstalled.

If you have any questions, please contact the InfoDesk at x3768.

Scheduled Network Maintenance

On Saturday morning, August 10, Allegheny College internet will be unavailable for a brief time due to scheduled network maintenance.

The outage is scheduled to start between 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m., and is expected to last approximately one hour.

This will affect both wired and wireless connections, and all campus telephones.

Scheduled Network Maintenance for Wednesday, July 31st

Network maintenance is scheduled to occur between the hours of 4:00 to 6:00 pm Wednesday, July 31st.

During this time frame, Mitel desk phones will reboot, and should come back online in under two minutes. During this reboot, any computer connected to our wired network through a desk phone will experience a brief loss of connectivity to our network. Connectivity should be restored for each computer once the desk phone that it is connected to comes back online.

If users experience outages that last longer than a few minutes, please call the InfoDesk at x3768, or email infodesk@allegheny.edu.

Mac connectivity

As part of ongoing network maintenance, LITS will be tweaking some network settings in each building over the coming weeks. For some Mac users on campus, this will affect their ability to connect to the network if they’re using a wired connection.

We have shared step-by-step instructions with building coordinators, which Mac users can follow to reconnect to the network if they are affected.

As always, please contact the InfoDesk at x3768 with any questions.
