System Maintenance

Intermittent outages

It has been brought to the attention of LITS that Allegheny College’s Internet provider will be conducting some emergency upkeep on their network. This could cause intermittent outages and loss of Internet on the campus network between midnight Thursday (3/21) and 2 a.m. Friday (3/22).

We appreciate your understanding and patience during this necessary maintenance.

Colleague Count Day Tomorrow 1/29

Colleague will be inaccessible Tuesday January 1/29 for the Spring Count.  Individuals and departments that participate in the count process will continue to be able to access Colleague or in situations where special accommodations have been made.

WebAdvisor and Informer will function as normal.

Planned Network Outage

LITS will be conducting rolling restarts of network equipment around campus from 9:30pm to roughly 10:30pm this evening.  This will result in loss of internet access lasting no more than 10 minutes at a time for those affected.

Planned Printing Outage

Printing will be unavailable campus-wide Wednesday 1/9 from 9am to 10am, in order to perform a system upgrade.  Thank you for your patience.

Armstrong Cable Maintenance

On Thursday morning at 7:00am,  Armstrong Cable will perform work on the system related to how they manage the College’s account.  The work is going to cause a brief disruption in service as the changes are made.  Normal service is expected to be restored before 8:00am.

Colleague UI Refresh (v5.7)

Staff and administrators using the latest version of Colleague (Ellucian Colleague, Datatel) will notice a slight interface change the first time you log in starting Tuesday evening.  As part of the upgrade (from UI 5.4 to UI 5.7), you may need to clear your browser cache if the screens do not navigate correctly after you log in.

If you are still using UI 4.5 (appears in a pop-up window or via the shortcut link on the desktop), please consider switching to UI 5, accessible on-campus at https://ui.allegheny.edu.  In the next month LITS will be removing the old shortcut and then working with individuals who continue to use UI 4.5.  The upgrade from 5.4 to 5.7 incorporates a considerable amount of fixes and enhancement requests, resolving a lot of outstanding issues.

See the short video below to learn more about the new interface.

Possible Internet Outage – Friday 11/2 AM

The college’s internet provider is conducting maintenance that may affect internet connectivity between the window of 12am and 6am, Friday November 2nd.  We are working with our provider to reduce the possibility of an outage as much as possible.  Connectivity may be intermittent or down while this maintenance is taking place during the 6 hour window.

Count Day Completed

Colleague is now available for general campus use again as of the evening 1/30/2018. Thank you!

Scheduled Work for Internet Connection

On January 4, 2018, work is scheduled on the College’s internet connection.

The work is scheduled during the early morning maintenance window so it can be completed prior to the start of business.  A short disruption is anticipated while the work is being performed.

Preparations have been made to minimize the disruption, but should something unforeseen occur extending the disruption, the community will be updated with details of what to expect at that time.

Colleague UI 5.4 Update

Hi folks,

The newest version of Colleague UI (5.4) is now installed in our Production environment. It can still be accessed on campus at ui.allegheny.edu.

Please clear your cached images and files before accessing the new UI, or things will look weird. You can follow the instructions below for Chrome, but you only need to clear cached images and files. If you are having trouble clearing your cache, please contact the InfoDesk at x3768, or enter a WebHelp ticket.

This update resolves 127 change requests and we believe it to have resolved all outstanding bug reports internally. Performance has also improved as well as some enhanced navigation (most notably the row forward/reverse bar has been moved out of the way to the top of the screen.)

UI 4 is still available for individuals who find issues running the new UI, but it is not supported by the upcoming Windows 10 and will be retired in 2018.

Current and new testers should report issues to Enterprise Services via a WebHelp ticket. Thank you for your diligent testing!
