Wu Research Respected Throughout History Discipline
In June 2013, Associate Professor of History Guo Wu was invited to be a visiting scholar at the National Center for Advanced Humanistic Studies at Fudan University in Shanghai, where he pursued and presented current research titled “Evidential Research, Statecraft, and Local Knowledge: The Compilation of Zunyi Prefectural Gazetteer in the 1820s.”
Professor Wu’s article “The Social Construction and Deconstruction of Evil Landlords in Contemporary Chinese Fiction, Art, and Collective Memory” appears in Ohio State University’s leading journal of the field, Modern Chinese Literature of Culture, vol. 25, no. 1 (Spring 2013), pp. 131-164.
His paper “Historiography, Fiction and Political Ritual in China’s Socialist Education Movement” was accepted for presentation to the International Commission for the History and Theory of Historiography conference titled “Historians as Engaged Intellectuals: Historical Writing and Social Criticism,” at Ruhr-Universitaet Bochum, Germany, in September 2013.
